Gigi Abraham

As Rare Form’s female lead vocalist, Gigi performs songs in all genres of music. You can also hear Gigi on some of New England’s signature radio and TV jingles for ACE Ticket and Subaru.

Gigi is both a singer and voiceover talent, with credits that include a hit single on the National Billboard Hot 100 Chart for Columbia Records, and voice acting roles for “My Little Pony”, “Clifford the Big Red Dog” and “VeggieTales”.

Gigi has recorded at the legendary Hit Factory in New York City; at Nashville’s Paragon Studios; at Henson Studios in Los Angeles; and Boston’s WGBH. Gigi voice is featured in video games, toys, and narrations at Walt Disney World and the New England Patriots Museum.

Mike Moore

Mike has been performing professionally for the past twenty years, most recently with the popular greater Lowell acoustic duo "Take Two" (Mike & Mike).

Prior to Mike joining Rare Form in 2002, that duo performed over 200 shows a year. Since joining Rare Form, Mike now performs the majority of his acoustic shows with Rare Form co-founder, guitarist and master of ceremonies; Steve Kelly.






Steve Kelly
Music director/guitars/vocals

Steve attended both Berklee College of Music and UMass-Lowell as a music major. He has been playing in a multitude of live and studio music projects his entire adult life. These projects include a wide range of musical styles including rock, reggae, funk, jazz, pop and musical theatre.

In addition to Rare Form, Steve plays in an acoustic guitar/vocal duo with Mike Moore, a Beach Boys tribute band (All Summer Long) and he also does Billy Joel tribute shows with Jon Abrams.

Steve has also taught music for many years. Outside of music, Steve enjoys playing ice hockey.

Rick Forzese

Rick began his professional music career in junior high school, performing in various groups and in genres ranging from rock to jazz. At Berklee College of Music, he studied with Gary Chaffee and Tommy Campbell and performed in hundreds of concerts and studio sessions over the course of his undergraduate tenure. He has since played and recorded with many high-profile artists such as Warren Hill, Brother's Hip, Joe Sample, Pattie Labelle, Billy Sheehan, and Boney James, and spent many years on the road with artists as diverse as Paul Anka and Jai Cie. On tour with Johnny A, Rick had the pleasure of opening for Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, Greg Allman, George Thorogood, and B.B. King.

Rick has over 20 years teaching experience as a private instructor, working with hundreds of students. He published an instruction book, "Building a Drumset Vocabulary." Rick's performing and teaching range includes jazz, rock, R&B, funk, latin, and blues styles. He enjoys challenging himself as a musician and as an instructor by working with longtime colleagues and students as well as establishing new collaborations and cultivating emerging talents. Jon Abrams

Jon has been playing and singing his entire life. He remembers being 3 or 4, having to kneel on the bench at a piano so he could reach the keys. After graduating from Allegheny College, Jon toured with the national Broadway production of the Billy Joel/Twyla Tharp tony-award winning musical Movin' Out in the lead role as the piano man. Jon has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. He has also lived in Las Vegas where he played in residence at dueling piano bars up and down the strip. What Jon loves most about performing with Rare Form is the level of musicianship and versatility of the band.

When he's not performing, Jon is the choral director at Hingham High School, where he also teaches music history.

Steve Monahan

Steve has been playing bass since his early teens. Along the way he has played in numerous Boston bands, including Capitol recording artists East of Eden. He has a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Massachusetts. He is an in demand bass player on the Greater Boston nightclub and recording scene. With his positive energy and upbeat vibe Steve helps make any event an enjoyable experience.

Carl Ayotte
Saxophone/guitar/harmonica/keyboard/ukulele/Irish penny whistle/vocals

Carl attended UMass Lowell as a music major. Was lead singer/saxophonist with "Middle Class"/"The Carl Ayotte Band", "Captain Morgan and the RumRunners" and with "Rare Form". Carl plays acoustic solo/duo/and trio performances all around New England. He's the leader and alto saxophonist with "Bamboo Saxotica", bass player with "All Summer Long" (Beach Boys Tribute) and baritone saxophonist/acoustic guitarist with "The Beautiful Losers" (Bob Seger Tribute). As a singer/songwriter Carl's original music can be found on iTunes and most online music stores.

Mark Berney

Mark Berney holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance and is on the Jazz Faculty at University of Rhode Island. He has appeared recently on Prairie Home Companion, Great Performances 40th Anniversary Special on PBS, and in concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Itzhak Perlman and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
